Microsoft Fabric integration for Rig
The easiest way to query Microsoft Fabric in Claude and other AI tools
Microsoft Fabric is Microsoft's analytics platform, and its Warehouse and Lakehouse SQL analytics endpoint expose tables over a SQL connection.
What Rig sees in Microsoft Fabric
Once connected, Rig models these objects so questions resolve to the right tables and joins:
- Tables in the schema you choose
- Warehouse tables
- Lakehouse tables through the SQL analytics endpoint
How Microsoft Fabric connects to Rig
Rig Ingest signs in to your Fabric SQL endpoint as a Microsoft Entra service principal with Viewer access or above on the workspace, and syncs the tables you choose into your warehouse on a schedule.

Fabric often holds data landed from finance, operations or ERP systems. Rig copies the tables you select into your warehouse, so they can be joined to CRM, billing and marketing data.
- Which tables are synced from Fabric, and how many rows does each hold?
- Join Fabric orders to CRM accounts
- How current is each Fabric table?
Let AI tools query Fabric data
Fabric tables synced into your warehouse become available to Rig's governed SQL. Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor can then answer questions over them through MCP.
- Summarise the tables in the Fabric schema
- What columns does a given Fabric table have?
- Show row counts by table
Read a Lakehouse through its SQL endpoint
A Lakehouse exposes its tables through a SQL analytics endpoint. Rig connects to that endpoint with the same service principal, so Lakehouse and Warehouse tables can be synced the same way.
- Which Lakehouse tables are available to sync?
- Show the newest rows in a Lakehouse table
- Compare a Lakehouse table with its Warehouse copy
Ask your Microsoft Fabric data in Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor
Rig serves your Microsoft Fabric data to AI assistants over MCP. Once Microsoft Fabric is synced into your warehouse, you can ask questions in plain English from the tool you already use, and every answer is backed by validated, governed SQL.
Frequently asked questions
- How does Rig sign in to Fabric?
- With an Entra service principal: a tenant ID, an application (client) ID and a client secret. Fabric does not support SQL authentication on this endpoint.
- What access does the service principal need?
- Workspace access at Viewer or above. You can also grant SELECT on specific tables to restrict what it reads.
- Which Fabric items work?
- A Warehouse, or a Lakehouse through its SQL analytics endpoint.
- Which port and network access does it use?
- Fabric's SQL connection string uses TCP port 1433, so allow that traffic through any firewall you run.
