Connect Front to Rig

Sync your Front conversations, contacts, inboxes, teammates, tags and channels into Rig. Front connects with a company-level API token that a Front admin creates.

    Before you start

    • You need to be an admin in Front. Only admins can create and manage API tokens.
    • API tokens in Front belong to the company, so other admins can see the token you create.

Step 1: Create a Front API token

    1. In Front, go to Settings then Developers.
    2. Open the API Tokens tab and click Create API token.
    3. Give the token a descriptive name, such as Rig read only.
    4. Choose Access resources, and pick the namespaces you want Rig to read: global resources, shared resources for your workspaces, and private resources if you need teammates' personal inboxes.
    5. Set the permission to Read for each resource. Rig only reads data.
    6. Click Create and copy the token.

    Copy it now
Front does not show the token value again after you create it. If you lose it, create another token and delete the old one.

Step 2: Connect it in Rig

Adding a source needs a workspace owner, or a role with the Manage connections permission, on a workspace where you manage your own connections. If the Connectors tab says “Data ingestion for this workspace is managed by Rig”, ask an owner or Rig support to add the source.

    1. In Rig, open Connections, choose the Connectors tab and go to Sources & actions.
    2. Search for Front, open the card and click Connect.
    3. Front API token: paste the token you just created.
    4. Click Continue. Rig checks the credentials and lists the streams it can reach, so choose the ones you want and click Connect.
    5. The source then syncs on its schedule, which is nightly unless you change it. To load data straight away, click Sync on its row; Test pulls a small sample first if you want to check the connection.

    What Rig pulls in

Front lands in its own front schema in your warehouse:

    • Conversations: every conversation with its messages.
    • Contacts: the people and organisations in your Front address book.
    • Inboxes and channels: your shared inboxes and the channels connected to them.
    • Teammates: the people on your Front account.
    • Tags: the tags you use to label conversations.

    Good to know

    • Personal inboxes only appear if the teammate has turned on API access in their own Front settings.
    • Rig only sees the workspaces covered by the token's shared resources setting, so pick All shared workspaces if you want every inbox.
    • Deleting the token in Settings then Developers stops the sync straight away.
    • To disconnect Front, click the bin icon on the source's row under Sources & actions. Only whoever connected the source or a workspace owner can do this, and data already synced stays in the warehouse.

    What people use this for

    • Track conversation volume and top contact reasons
    • Measure how long conversations stay open
    • Analyse teammate performance and workload
    • Report on inbox health and assignment
