Connect Specter to Rig

Sync the companies and people on your Specter lists into Rig. You share each list with the API in Specter, and Rig finds every shared list on its own, so there are no list IDs to copy.

    Before you start

    • You need access to the Specter API Console, where a team-level API key is requested.
    • New keys are approved by Specter, usually within one business day.
    • Specter charges one credit for each record returned. Check your monthly allowance before you share large lists.

Step 1: Request your Specter API key

    1. Open the Specter API Console at app.tryspecter.com/settings/api-console and request an API key.
    2. Wait for Specter to approve it, then copy the key. It is a single team-level key, so share it with care.

Step 2: Share your lists with the API

    1. In the Specter web app, open each company or people list, or saved search, that you want in Rig.
    2. Turn on Share with API for it. The API cannot see a list until you do this.

Step 3: Connect it in Rig

Adding a source needs a workspace owner, or a role with the Manage connections permission, on a workspace where you manage your own connections. If the Connectors tab says “Data ingestion for this workspace is managed by Rig”, ask an owner or Rig support to add the source.

    1. In Rig, open Connections, choose the Connectors tab and go to Sources & actions.
    2. Search for Specter, open the card and click Connect.
    3. Specter API key: paste the key from the API Console.
    4. Click Continue. Rig checks the credentials and lists the streams it can reach, so choose the ones you want and click Connect.
    5. The source then syncs on its schedule, which is nightly unless you change it. To load data straight away, click Sync on its row; Test pulls a small sample first if you want to check the connection.

    What Rig pulls in

Specter lands in its own specter schema in your warehouse:

    • Company lists: the lists of companies shared with your key, and the companies on them.
    • People lists: the lists of people shared with your key, and the people on them.

    Good to know

    • A list you share after connecting lands in your warehouse on the next sync.
    • Each record costs a Specter credit every time it is returned. If your allowance is tight, share fewer lists or sync on a slower schedule.
    • Specter saved searches and strategic signals are not part of the standard connector, because they need per-search settings.
    • To disconnect Specter, click the bin icon on the source's row under Sources & actions. Only whoever connected the source or a workspace owner can do this, and data already synced stays in the warehouse.

    What people use this for

    • Source high-growth target companies
    • Track growth signals on existing accounts
    • Build prioritised prospect lists
    • Monitor competitor and market momentum
