Connect LinkedIn Ads to Rig

Sync your LinkedIn ad accounts, campaign groups, campaigns, creatives and daily performance into Rig, so your AI tools can compare spend, clicks, leads and conversions by campaign and by creative. LinkedIn Ads connects through a LinkedIn sign-in.

    Before you start

    • You need a LinkedIn member who holds a role on each ad account you want to sync. The r_ads permission covers the roles Viewer, Creative Manager, Campaign Manager, Account Manager and Account Billing Admin.
    • To add someone to an ad account, open Campaign Manager, click the gear icon in the top right corner and choose Manage Access.

    Connect it in Rig

Adding a source needs a workspace owner, or a role with the Manage connections permission, on a workspace where you manage your own connections. If the Connectors tab says “Data ingestion for this workspace is managed by Rig”, ask an owner or Rig support to add the source.

    1. In Rig, open Connections, choose the Connectors tab and go to Sources & actions.
    2. Search for LinkedIn Ads, open the card and click Connect.
    3. Click Connect with LinkedIn, sign in as the member who has access to your ad accounts and approve the consent screen. Rig asks for the r_ads and r_ads_reporting permissions, which are read only.
    4. Leave the field Member access token (optional fallback) blank. It exists for teams that paste a LinkedIn token by hand.
    5. To limit the sync to some accounts, enter their numeric IDs in the Ad account ID(s) filter, separated by commas. Leave it blank to sync every account the member can see.
    6. Leave Days of history on first sync (optional) at 365 unless you want a shorter first load.
    7. Choose the streams you want and click Connect. The source then syncs on its schedule, which is nightly unless you change it. Click Sync on its row to load data straight away.

    What Rig pulls in

LinkedIn Ads lands in its own linkedin_ads schema in your warehouse:

    • Ad accounts: every ad account the member can access.
    • Campaign groups and campaigns: the structure of your advertising, with budgets and status.
    • Creatives: the ads inside each campaign.
    • Daily analytics by campaign: impressions, clicks, spend, conversions, leads, engagement and video metrics for each day.
    • Daily analytics by creative: the same daily metrics at creative level.

The first sync loads 365 days of daily analytics by default. Rig re-pulls the most recent days on each run because conversions restate as LinkedIn attributes them.

    Good to know

    • A LinkedIn member token lasts 60 days. Connecting through the sign-in is the route Rig supports, and if a sync reports an expired token, connect again.
    • LinkedIn keeps performance data for years, but daily rows can thin out beyond about six months.
    • Rig's LinkedIn app is on the Development tier of the Advertising API today, which LinkedIn limits to ad accounts your own organisation administers.
    • LinkedIn retires each API version about a year after release, so Rig moves versions on a schedule.
    • To disconnect LinkedIn Ads, click the bin icon on the source's row under Sources & actions. Only whoever connected the source or a workspace owner can do this, and data already synced stays in the warehouse.
