Connect monday.com to Rig

Sync your monday.com boards, items and users into Rig so your AI tools can answer questions about the work your teams track. monday.com connects with a personal API token, and private boards stay out of the sync unless you opt them in.

    Before you start

    • You need a monday.com account where you can reach the API token. Account admins find it in the Administration area, and guests cannot use an API token.
    • The token acts as the person who owns it and can see every board that person can see. Use a token from someone whose access matches what you want in your warehouse.

Step 1: Get your monday.com API token

    1. Sign in to monday.com as an account admin.
    2. Open Administration, then Connections, then Personal API token.
    3. Copy the token and keep it somewhere safe. Treat it like a password.

    Not an admin
Members can find their own token too. The monday.com support article shows where it sits in the profile menu.

Step 2: Connect it in Rig

Adding a source needs a workspace owner, or a role with the Manage connections permission, on a workspace where you manage your own connections. If the Connectors tab says “Data ingestion for this workspace is managed by Rig”, ask an owner or Rig support to add the source.

    1. In Rig, open Connections, choose the Connectors tab and go to Sources & actions.
    2. Search for Monday.com, open the card and click Connect.
    3. API token: paste the token you copied. Rig sends it as monday.com expects, with no Bearer prefix.
    4. Board kind allowlist: pre-filled with public, share. Leave it as it is to skip private boards. To include them, enter all three kinds: public, private, share.
    5. Click Continue. Rig checks the credentials and lists the streams it can reach, so choose the ones you want and click Connect.
    6. The source then syncs on its schedule, which is nightly unless you change it. To load data straight away, click Sync on its row; Test pulls a small sample first if you want to check the connection.

    What Rig pulls in

monday.com lands in its own monday schema in your warehouse:

    • Boards: every board in the allowlisted kinds.
    • Items: the items on those boards.
    • Users: the people in your monday.com account.

    Good to know

    • A monday.com token can see every board its owner can open, including HR or leadership boards. That is why Rig skips private boards by default. Widen the allowlist only when you mean to.
    • monday.com returns query errors with an HTTP 200 status, so a bad token or a schema change shows up in the sync log as an error message rather than as an empty table.
    • To disconnect monday.com, click the bin icon on the source's row under Sources & actions. Only whoever connected the source or a workspace owner can do this, and data already synced stays in the warehouse.

    What people use this for

    • Measure item throughput and status mix
    • Track board health and aging items
    • Report on custom columns and intake
    • Balance ownership and workload across the team
