Connect Apollo.io to Rig

Sync your Apollo.io contacts, accounts, opportunities and users into Rig so prospecting data can sit beside your CRM and pipeline. Apollo connects with an API key that you create in your settings.

    Before you start

    • You need access to Apollo's API key settings.
    • Decide between a key limited to chosen endpoints and a master key. Apollo's user list works only with a master key.

Step 1: Create an Apollo API key

    1. Sign in to Apollo and open Settings, then Integrations, then API Keys.
    2. Create a new key and give it a name that tells the next admin what it is for.
    3. Select the endpoints the key may use. Give it access to the contacts, accounts and opportunities endpoints. Rig can only sync the users table with a master key, so if you want users, switch on Set as master key instead.
    4. Copy the key and store it securely.

    Master key
Apollo returns a 403 for the user list unless the key is a master key. A master key can take any API action your account allows, so create one only if you want the users table.

Step 2: Connect it in Rig

Adding a source needs a workspace owner, or a role with the Manage connections permission, on a workspace where you manage your own connections. If the Connectors tab says “Data ingestion for this workspace is managed by Rig”, ask an owner or Rig support to add the source.

    1. In Rig, open Connections, choose the Connectors tab and go to Sources & actions.
    2. Search for Apollo.io, open the card and click Connect.
    3. Apollo API key: paste the key you created.
    4. Click Continue. Rig checks the credentials and lists the streams it can reach, so choose the ones you want and click Connect.
    5. The source then syncs on its schedule, which is nightly unless you change it. To load data straight away, click Sync on its row; Test pulls a small sample first if you want to check the connection.

    What Rig pulls in

Apollo.io lands in its own apollo schema in your warehouse:

    • Contacts: the people in your Apollo account.
    • Accounts: the companies in your Apollo account.
    • Opportunities: the deals you track in Apollo.
    • Users: your Apollo team members.

    Good to know

    • Apollo moved to header-only authentication in September 2024. Keys passed in a query string or request body no longer work, and Rig sends yours in a header.
    • Apollo pages results at up to 100 records a call, so a large contact database takes many requests on the first sync.
    • Deleting a key in Apollo breaks every integration using it, so create a separate key for Rig.
    • To disconnect Apollo.io, click the bin icon on the source's row under Sources & actions. Only whoever connected the source or a workspace owner can do this, and data already synced stays in the warehouse.

    What people use this for

    • Track Apollo opportunities
    • Measure ownership by rep
