Connect Happenstance to Rig

Sync your Happenstance network into Rig: the groups you belong to, their members, your friends, and your credit purchases and usage. Happenstance connects with an API key from your settings.

    Before you start

    • You need a Happenstance account that can generate an API key.
    • Happenstance's documentation does not describe API key scopes, so treat the key as full access to your account.

Step 1: Generate a Happenstance API key

    1. Sign in to Happenstance and open your settings at Settings, then Integrations, then Keys. The page is at happenstance.ai/integrations/keys.
    2. Generate an API key.
    3. Copy the key and store it securely.

Step 2: Connect it in Rig

Adding a source needs a workspace owner, or a role with the Manage connections permission, on a workspace where you manage your own connections. If the Connectors tab says “Data ingestion for this workspace is managed by Rig”, ask an owner or Rig support to add the source.

    1. In Rig, open Connections, choose the Connectors tab and go to Sources & actions.
    2. Search for Happenstance, open the card and click Connect.
    3. API key: paste the key you generated.
    4. Click Continue. Rig checks the credentials and lists the streams it can reach, so choose the ones you want and click Connect.
    5. The source then syncs on its schedule, which is nightly unless you change it. To load data straight away, click Sync on its row; Test pulls a small sample first if you want to check the connection.

    What Rig pulls in

Happenstance lands in its own happenstance schema in your warehouse:

    • Groups: your groups.
    • Group members: the members of each group, linked back to the group by its ID.
    • Friends: your friends.
    • Credit purchases and credit usage: what you bought and what your searches and research jobs used.

Members and friends carry names only.

    Good to know

    • Happenstance search and person research are paid jobs that return results once, and the API has no endpoint that lists past ones. Rig does not sync them, and syncing never spends your credits.
    • Happenstance has no endpoint for your LinkedIn connections. They are reachable only through paid searches, so they do not appear as a table.
    • Happenstance bills 2 credits for each search and 1 credit for each completed research job. You can add credits from your settings page.
    • To disconnect Happenstance, click the bin icon on the source's row under Sources & actions. Only whoever connected the source or a workspace owner can do this, and data already synced stays in the warehouse.

    What people use this for

    • See who is in each of your groups
    • Match your network against the rest of your data
    • Watch credit spend on searches and research
