Connect ActiveCampaign to Rig

Sync your ActiveCampaign contacts, accounts, deals, lists, campaigns and automations into Rig, so marketing and pipeline data sit with the rest of your business. ActiveCampaign connects with your account's API URL and API key.

    Before you start

    • You need a user who can open the Developer settings in ActiveCampaign.
    • The API URL is specific to your account, so copy it from your own settings rather than guessing it.

Step 1: Find your ActiveCampaign API URL and key

    1. Sign in to ActiveCampaign and click the Settings gear icon.
    2. In the Account Settings menu, click Developer.
    3. In the API Access section, copy the URL value. It looks like https://youraccount.api-us1.com.
    4. Copy the Key value next to it.

Step 2: Connect it in Rig

Adding a source needs a workspace owner, or a role with the Manage connections permission, on a workspace where you manage your own connections. If the Connectors tab says “Data ingestion for this workspace is managed by Rig”, ask an owner or Rig support to add the source.

    1. In Rig, open Connections, choose the Connectors tab and go to Sources & actions.
    2. Search for ActiveCampaign, open the card and click Connect.
    3. Account API URL: paste the URL value, with no path added.
    4. API key: paste the Key value.
    5. Click Continue. Rig checks the credentials and lists the streams it can reach, so choose the ones you want and click Connect.
    6. The source then syncs on its schedule, which is nightly unless you change it. To load data straight away, click Sync on its row; Test pulls a small sample first if you want to check the connection.

    What Rig pulls in

ActiveCampaign lands in its own activecampaign schema in your warehouse:

    • Contacts and accounts: your people and the companies they belong to.
    • Deals: deals, with their stages and groups (pipelines).
    • Campaigns and automations: your email campaigns and automations.
    • Lists and tags: how contacts are segmented.
    • Users and fields: your ActiveCampaign users and the custom field definitions.

    Good to know

    • ActiveCampaign allows 5 API requests per second per account. Rig stays inside that, so a large contact base takes time on the first sync.
    • The API key acts as the account's user that owns it. Changing or regenerating the key in ActiveCampaign stops the sync until you update it in Rig.
    • Custom field definitions come through as the Fields table, which you need to label custom field values on contacts and deals.
    • To disconnect ActiveCampaign, click the bin icon on the source's row under Sources & actions. Only whoever connected the source or a workspace owner can do this, and data already synced stays in the warehouse.

    What people use this for

    • Follow a contact from campaign to closed deal
    • See what automations actually achieve
    • Segment on behaviour, not just tags
