Connect ShipBob to Rig

ShipBob stores and ships ecommerce inventory from a network of fulfilment centres. Rig syncs its orders, shipments, products, inventory, fulfilment centres, returns and channels into your warehouse. It connects with a personal access token.

    Before you start

    • You need a ShipBob account with access to the Integrations page.
    • Decide whether Rig should read every channel on the account or one channel. Leaving the channel blank reads all of them.

Step 1: Generate a ShipBob personal access token

    1. Sign in to the ShipBob dashboard.
    2. Go to Integrations and open API Tokens.
    3. Click Generate New Token.
    4. Copy the token somewhere safe. Treat it like a password.

Step 2: Connect it in Rig

Adding a source needs a workspace owner, or a role with the Manage connections permission, on a workspace where you manage your own connections. If the Connectors tab says “Data ingestion for this workspace is managed by Rig”, ask an owner or Rig support to add the source.

    1. In Rig, open Connections, choose the Connectors tab and go to Sources & actions.
    2. Search for ShipBob, open the card and click Connect.
    3. Personal Access Token: Paste the token you copied.
    4. Channel ID (optional): Leave it blank to read across all channels. To limit Rig to one channel, enter its ID, which ShipBob's channels endpoint returns.
    5. Click Continue. Rig checks the credentials and lists the streams it can reach, so choose the ones you want and click Connect.
    6. The source then syncs on its schedule, which is nightly unless you change it. To load data straight away, click Sync on its row; Test pulls a small sample first if you want to check the connection.

    What Rig pulls in

ShipBob lands in its own shipbob schema in your warehouse:

    • Orders: orders on the account.
    • Shipments: the shipments for those orders.
    • Products: the product catalogue.
    • Inventory: stock held at ShipBob.
    • Fulfilment centres: the centres in ShipBob's network.
    • Returns: returns raised against orders.
    • Channels: the sales channels connected to the account.

    Good to know

    • ShipBob allows 150 requests a minute per user and app, shared across all its APIs, so Rig keeps throughput modest.
    • Rig reads ShipBob's 1.0 API, which pages by number and returns up to 250 records per page.
    • Setting a channel ID only scopes reads. Rig never writes to ShipBob.
    • To disconnect ShipBob, click the bin icon on the source's row under Sources & actions. Only whoever connected the source or a workspace owner can do this, and data already synced stays in the warehouse.

    What people use this for

    • Measure fulfilment speed honestly
    • Balance inventory across the network
    • See what fulfilment really costs per order
