Connect Zencargo to Rig

Sync your Zencargo freight bookings, purchase orders, product masters, packing lists and supplier network into Rig, so your AI tools can answer questions about inbound stock next to sales and inventory. Zencargo connects with an API key and the API URL Zencargo provisions for your account.

    Before you start

    • You need access to Settings in the Zencargo app, where API keys are created.
    • Zencargo gives every customer its own API URL, such as https://yourcompany.api.production.zencargo.com. If you do not have yours, ask your Zencargo account manager. The Zencargo API documentation covers this under requesting your API URL.
    • Optional: your Zencargo account ID (a UUID). Three of the streams need it, so ask your account manager if you want them.

Step 1: Create a Zencargo API key

    1. Sign in to the Zencargo app.
    2. Open Settings and go to the API Keys section.
    3. Create a new key. Zencargo gives you a key ID and a secret.
    4. Copy both. Zencargo shows the secret once, so save it somewhere safe before you leave the page.

    Two values make one login
Zencargo uses the key ID as the user name and the secret as the password. A wrong pair can come back as an error message inside a normal response, so a failed connection check usually means one of the two was pasted wrongly.

Step 2: Connect it in Rig

Adding a source needs a workspace owner, or a role with the Manage connections permission, on a workspace where you manage your own connections. If the Connectors tab says “Data ingestion for this workspace is managed by Rig”, ask an owner or Rig support to add the source.

    1. In Rig, open Connections, choose the Connectors tab and go to Sources & actions.
    2. Search for Zencargo, open the card and click Connect.
    3. Per-account API URL: the API URL Zencargo provisioned for you. Rig adds /graphql itself, so leave that part off.
    4. API key ID: the key ID from Step 1.
    5. API key secret: the secret from Step 1.
    6. Account ID: your Zencargo account UUID. Leave it blank if you do not have it; the three streams that need it are then unavailable.
    7. Click Continue. Rig checks the credentials and lists the streams it can reach, so choose the ones you want and click Connect.
    8. The source then syncs on its schedule, which is nightly unless you change it. To load data straight away, click Sync on its row; Test pulls a small sample first if you want to check the connection.

    What Rig pulls in

Zencargo lands in its own zencargo schema in your warehouse:

    • Bookings: freight shipments with their stage, legs, journey milestones, parties and documents.
    • Purchase orders: ordered line items, their lots and the booking references they ship under.
    • Products: the product master with prices, dimensions, weights and tariff codes.
    • Core products: a richer product master with barcodes, hazmat flags, buy and sell prices and tariff codes. Needs the account ID.
    • Packing lists: one packing list per booking.
    • Account locations: your location book. Needs the account ID.
    • Account connections: your trading partners, such as suppliers. Needs the account ID.

Zencargo's API has no change filter, so every sync reads each stream in full and replaces the table. Volumes for a freight forwarder are small, so this takes a few hundred requests.

    Good to know

    • Because each sync replaces the tables, a booking that Zencargo removes disappears from the warehouse at the next sync.
    • Zencargo returns at most 50 records a page, so a large account takes more requests but needs no setting from you.
    • You can connect more than one Zencargo account, each with its own API URL and key.
    • To disconnect Zencargo, click the bin icon on the source's row under Sources & actions. Only whoever connected the source or a workspace owner can do this, and data already synced stays in the warehouse.

    What people use this for

    • Know when stock will actually arrive
    • Measure supplier and lane reliability
    • Connect freight cost to landed cost
