Connect Notion to Rig

Rig syncs the Notion databases, pages and users that an integration of yours can see. You create an internal integration, copy its token and share the content you want with it.

    Before you start

    • You need permission to create connections in your Notion workspace.
    • Decide which pages and databases to share. A Notion integration sees only the content you give it access to.

Step 1: Create a Notion integration

    1. Create a new connection in the Notion Developer portal. Notion's authorization guide walks through it.
    2. Open the Configuration tab and copy the API token.

Step 2: Share your content with it

    1. Open a page or database you want synced in Notion.
    2. Click the ••• menu at the top right and scroll to Add connections.
    3. Search for your connection and select it. Repeat for each top-level page or database you want.

Step 3: Connect it in Rig

Adding a source needs a workspace owner, or a role with the Manage connections permission, on a workspace where you manage your own connections. If the Connectors tab says “Data ingestion for this workspace is managed by Rig”, ask an owner or Rig support to add the source.

    1. In Rig, open Connections, choose the Connectors tab and go to Sources & actions.
    2. Search for Notion, open the card and click Connect.
    3. Notion integration token: The API token from the Configuration tab.
    4. Click Continue. Rig checks the credentials and lists the streams it can reach, so choose the ones you want and click Connect.
    5. The source then syncs on its schedule, which is nightly unless you change it. To load data straight away, click Sync on its row; Test pulls a small sample first if you want to check the connection.

    What Rig pulls in

Notion lands in its own notion schema in your warehouse:

    • Databases: Each database you shared.
    • Pages: The pages and database rows the integration can see.
    • Users: The people in your Notion workspace.

    Good to know

    • Anything you have not shared with the connection is invisible to Rig, so a missing database almost always means it was not shared.
    • Rig finds content through Notion's search, so share each area you want rather than the workspace root.
    • Notion's internal tokens are tied to the workspace that created them, so one connection covers one workspace.
    • To disconnect Notion, click the bin icon on the source's row under Sources & actions. Only whoever connected the source or a workspace owner can do this, and data already synced stays in the warehouse.

    What people use this for

    • Track roadmap progress and item cycle time
    • Measure content calendar throughput
    • Report on task tracking and backlog health
    • Analyse a CRM or pipeline built in Notion
