There is no TikTok app review on this path, so you can be connected the same day. Rig exchanges the code for a long-lived token and refreshes it for you from then on. Roughly 20 minutes, if your shop is eligible The app creation itself is quick. What catches people out is the two prerequisites below — a shop that has passed verification, and an assigned Account Manager. Check those first. ## Why use your own app TikTok Shop has two kinds of developer. A **seller developer** builds a custom app that reads its own shop's data. An app developer or system integrator builds a public app that can request access to other sellers' shops. A custom app is not listed in the TikTok Shop app store and needs no app review, so it is by far the fastest route. A public app requires TikTok's compliance and legal review, which TikTok documents as taking three or more weeks and always applying to UK and US partners. Rig is working through that review so a future version of this connector is a single click — until then, the app is yours. Because you own the app, you control what it can reach and you can revoke it at any time from Partner Center. ## Before you start TikTok requires two things of the shop before it will let you register as a seller developer at all: - The TikTok Shop seller account has **passed KYB or KYC verification**. Any trading shop will have. - The seller account has an **assigned Account Manager**. This is the one that most often blocks people. If you are not sure, ask TikTok before you begin. Use the shop's own email address Register on Partner Center with the **same email as the TikTok Shop account**. TikTok names this as the most common cause of failed seller-developer registrations: sign up with a different address and the system classifies you as an app developer instead, and undoing that needs a support ticket. By the end you will paste three values into Rig: the **app key**, the **app secret** and a one-time **authorization code**. ## Step 1: Register as a seller developer 1. Sign in to [TikTok Shop Partner Center](https://partner.tiktokshop.com/) using your Seller Center account. US local sellers use [partner.us.tiktokshop.com](https://partner.us.tiktokshop.com/) instead. 2. On the business guide, choose **For TikTok Shop Seller** as your partner type, then click `Start Business`. 3. Select your target seller market, and choose **TikTok Shop Seller** as the business category. 4. Link the activated TikTok Shop account. If you signed in with your Seller Center account, TikTok verifies this automatically and you can skip ahead. 5. Check `My Account`. Once you see the **TikTok Shop seller** tag, registration is done. ## Step 2: Create the custom app 1. Open `App & Service` from the navigation panel and click `Create app & service`. 2. Choose **Custom App**. This is the type built for a single seller and never listed in the app store — do not choose the public option. 3. Name it something recognisable, such as `Rig data sync`, and select **TikTok Shop Seller** as the service category. 4. Set the market and seller type to match your shop. 5. Turn **Enable API** on, and set the **Redirect URL** to: `https://ingest.rig.so/tiktok-shop/oauth/callback`Copy 6. Click `Create`. On the app detail page, copy the **App key** and **App secret**. Treat the secret like a password. What the redirect URL does It is where TikTok sends your browser after you approve the app, carrying a one-time authorization code. Rig's page simply displays that code for you to copy — it stores nothing. The code is also visible in your browser's address bar, so you can read it from there if you prefer. TikTok lets you edit this URL after the app is created. You can leave the **Webhook URL** blank. Rig pulls on a schedule rather than receiving pushes. ## Step 3: Publish the app Click `Publish` on the app's page. A custom app publishes automatically — there is no queue and no reviewer. Nothing is listed publicly; publishing just makes the app usable against your own shop. ## Step 4: Authorize your shop and copy the code 1. On the app's detail page, copy the **authorization link**. 2. Open it in your browser and approve access for your shop. 3. You land on the redirect URL with `code=…` in the address bar. Copy that value. 4. Go straight to Rig and paste it. Do not stop for coffee first. The code expires in 30 minutes and works once This is the step people redo. The authorization code is single-use and short-lived — it is not the credential itself, it is a token you trade for one. If it lapses, or if you paste it somewhere and it fails, just open the authorization link again for a fresh code. Nothing is broken and you do not need to recreate the app. ## Step 5: Connect it in Rig New to Rig? Watch how to find Connections 1. In Rig, open `Connections` in the left sidebar and go to `Sources & actions`. 2. Search for **TikTok Shop** and open its card. 3. Under **Whose TikTok Shop app?**, leave **Our own app** selected. The Rig-hosted option is greyed out until TikTok's partner review completes. 4. Paste the **App key** and **App secret** from step 2. 5. Paste the **Authorization code** from step 4. 6. Leave **Refresh token** blank. It is there only for people who ran the token exchange themselves. 7. Click `Connect`, then pick which data you want Rig to sync. Rig exchanges the code for a long-lived token as soon as you connect, and discards the code. From then on Rig refreshes access on its own — there is nothing for you to rotate. ## What Rig pulls in TikTok Shop lands in its own `tiktok_shop` schema in your warehouse, and stays current with incremental syncs. - **Orders** and their line items - **Products** and their SKUs - **Finance**: daily settlement statements, SKU-level statement transactions, payments, and estimates for transactions that have not settled yet - **Shops** covered by the authorization ## Troubleshooting - **Rig says the authorization code was rejected**: it has expired or already been used. Open the authorization link again and paste the fresh code straight away. - **You cannot register as a seller developer**: check the two prerequisites. The shop must have passed KYB or KYC, and it must have an assigned Account Manager. - **Partner Center treats you as an app developer**: you signed up with an email that is not the shop's. Contact TikTok or your Account Manager to have the account allowlisted. - **You are asked to complete a data security and privacy review**: you are creating a public or partner app rather than a custom one. A custom app needs no review — go back and choose **Custom App**. - **The redirect page does not load**: the code is still in your browser's address bar after `code=`. Copy it from there. - **Your token stops working later**: the authorization has a duration set when you granted it, and it can be revoked from Partner Center.
