# Connect Postscript to Rig

Bring your SMS subscribers, their consent state and their Shopify customer link into the warehouse. Once SMS membership sits beside real orders, the channel can be judged on what those customers actually bought rather than on the revenue the platform attributes to itself.

## Create a security key pair

1. Log into Postscript.
2. In the left-hand menu, click `Settings` (the gear icon), then choose `API` from the dropdown.
3. Click `Create security key pair`.
4. Label it **Rig data sync**, so it is obvious later which integration the key belongs to and safe to revoke if you ever disconnect Rig.
5. Click `Show`, then copy the **private key**. It starts with `sk_`.

Copy the private key, not the public one
Postscript issues a pair, so there are two values on the screen and only one of them works. Rig needs the private key, the `sk_` value revealed behind `Show`. The public half is not a credential Rig can authenticate with, and pasting it produces an authentication failure rather than a helpful message about the wrong key.

1. In Rig, open `Connections` and go to `Sources & actions`.
2. Search for **Postscript** and open the card.
3. **Private API key**: paste the `sk_` value.
4. Click `Test`, then `Sync`.

## What Rig pulls in

- **Subscribers**, each carrying their consent state, the linked Shopify customer, tags and custom properties
- **Opt-in keywords**, so you can trace a subscriber back to the collection point that produced them
- **Webhook subscriptions**

The connector is read-only, as every Rig Ingest source is. Rig never sends an SMS or changes a subscriber.

## Troubleshooting

- **Authentication fails**: you almost certainly have the public half of the key pair. Go back to `Settings` → `API`, click `Show`, and confirm the value you pasted starts with `sk_`.
- **Authentication still fails with an sk\_ value**: the key goes in bare. If you copied it from documentation that prefixed it with `Bearer`, strip the prefix and the space.
- **Subscribers are syncing but nothing joins to orders**: this is not a Postscript problem. Your Shopify store needs to be connected into the same warehouse before the customer link has anything to point at.
