# Connect Pimento to Rig

Pimento is a fulfilment platform. Rig syncs its orders and tracking, products and inventory, returns, ASNs, bundles and lots into your warehouse, so fulfilment and stock sit beside your sales data. It connects with an API client ID and secret.

## Before you start

- You need Pimento API access. The client ID and secret are provided when you register for API access in the Pimento dashboard.

## Step 1: Get your Pimento API credentials

1. Sign in to the Pimento dashboard and find the API access area.
2. Register for API access if your account does not have it yet. If you cannot find it, ask your Pimento contact to issue credentials.
3. Copy the **Client ID** and **Client secret** somewhere safe. Treat the secret like a password.

Menu names
Pimento's published API contract describes the credentials but not the dashboard menu that issues them, so the exact path may differ.

## Step 2: Connect it in Rig

New to Rig? Watch how to find Connections

Adding a source needs a workspace owner, or a role with the Manage connections permission, on a workspace where you manage your own connections. If the Connectors tab says “Data ingestion for this workspace is managed by Rig”, ask an owner or Rig support to add the source.

1. In Rig, open `Connections`, choose the `Connectors` tab and go to `Sources & actions`.
2. Search for **Pimento**, open the card and click `Connect`.
3. **Client ID**: Your Pimento API client ID.
4. **Client secret**: Your Pimento API client secret.
5. Click `Continue`. Rig checks the credentials and lists the streams it can reach, so choose the ones you want and click `Connect`.
6. The source then syncs on its schedule, which is nightly unless you change it. To load data straight away, click `Sync` on its row; `Test` pulls a small sample first if you want to check the connection.

## What Rig pulls in

Pimento lands in its own `pimento` schema in your warehouse:

- **Orders**: orders and their tracking.
- **Products**: products and their inventory.
- **Returns**: customer returns.
- **ASNs**: advance shipping notices for inbound stock.
- **Sets**: bundles.
- **Lots**: stock lots.

Each stream is a complete snapshot on every sync.

## Good to know

- Pimento access tokens last 24 hours. Rig signs in with your client ID and secret to get a new one, so nothing needs refreshing by hand.
- Orders, products and returns can change long after they are created, and not every Pimento endpoint can filter by update time. That is why Rig re-reads each stream in full.
- Because each sync replaces the table, a record deleted in Pimento disappears from the warehouse on the next sync.
- To disconnect Pimento, click the bin icon on the source's row under `Sources & actions`. Only whoever connected the source or a workspace owner can do this, and data already synced stays in the warehouse.

## What people use this for

- Follow orders from placement to delivery
- Watch product inventory
- Review returns and inbound shipments
