# Connect Affinity to Rig

Sync your Affinity people, organisations, lists and opportunities into Rig, so deal flow and relationships can be read with the rest of your data. Affinity connects with a single API key.

## Before you start

- Your Affinity plan must be Scale, Advanced or Enterprise. Affinity does not give API access on a trial or the Essential tier.
- You need the **Generate an API key** permission, or an Admin role. An Enterprise Admin can restrict that permission to some roles.

## Step 1: Create an Affinity API key

1. In Affinity, click **Settings** and then **Manage Apps**.
2. Click **+ New App**. If a menu opens, choose **API Key**.
3. Enter a name, such as `Rig`, and an optional description.
4. Leave the API version and IP allowlist as they are, unless your security team needs an allowlist.
5. Click **Add App** and copy the secret. Affinity shows it once, so create a new key if you lose it.

Reach is set by the key's owner
A key can read what its owner can read. Affinity notes that an account can restrict data exports to Admins, so use an Admin key if some data is missing.

## Step 2: Connect it in Rig

New to Rig? Watch how to find Connections

Adding a source needs a workspace owner, or a role with the Manage connections permission, on a workspace where you manage your own connections. If the Connectors tab says “Data ingestion for this workspace is managed by Rig”, ask an owner or Rig support to add the source.

1. In Rig, open `Connections`, choose the `Connectors` tab and go to `Sources & actions`.
2. Search for **Affinity**, open the card and click `Connect`.
3. **Affinity API key**: paste the secret you copied.
4. Click `Continue`. Rig checks the credentials and lists the streams it can reach, so choose the ones you want and click `Connect`.
5. The source then syncs on its schedule, which is nightly unless you change it. To load data straight away, click `Sync` on its row; `Test` pulls a small sample first if you want to check the connection.

## What Rig pulls in

Affinity lands in its own `affinity` schema in your warehouse:

- **Persons**: the people in your Affinity database.
- **Organizations**: companies and other organisations.
- **Lists**: your Affinity lists.
- **Opportunities**: deals tracked in your opportunity lists.

## Good to know

- You can hold several active Affinity API keys, so Rig gets its own and revoking it later does not disturb other integrations.
- The Manage Apps page shows API usage for your account, which is where to look if you share the API with other tools.
- Affinity also offers a newer API version, and a key defaults to the latest one. Rig works from the key you provide.
- To disconnect Affinity, click the bin icon on the source's row under `Sources & actions`. Only whoever connected the source or a workspace owner can do this, and data already synced stays in the warehouse.

## What people use this for

- Analyse deal flow and sourcing
- Map your network to live deals
- Report on pipeline coverage
